“You can’t do it!” “You don’t have what it takes.” “Stay where you’re comfortable.” These are the things that the enemy tells me when I face the challenge of starting over. Fear, anxiety, frustration. These are emotions that I always have when I face times of a new beginning or chapter in life.
Those things that the enemy tries to convince us of are lies. I need to remind myself of that every time I allow them to enter my thoughts. If I dwelt on them and listened to those lies I would never be where I am serving in Santiago, Chile. I would have missed out on TREMENDOUS blessings like having the wonderful experience of leading one of my students to accepting Christ as her Savior in the middle of a pandemic during distance learning!
Do we actually ever consider these times of change and starting over as blessings? I am the first to answer that question with a resounding NO. But ladies, I am here to tell you that EVERYTHING about starting over is a huge blessing from our Creator. Yes, I agree, that we can’t see it when we are first going down that road, but when we look back, wow! What amazing things God did in our lives!
Can you relate?
I am always reminded of the poem “Footprints” that depicts only one set of footprints in the sand after having 2 sets, God and the author. It brings me to tears every time I read the response from the question, “Why during the hardest points in my life did you leave me?” The answer was “It was then that I carried you.” He carries us doesn’t He my sisters? May we always remember that God will bring us through it if He brings us to it.
Starting over is hard, no doubt, but it is God growing us and leading us down a path that is going to bring about such good change. I am learning this even now having to teach my students in a whole new way virtually. It’s exhausting, frustrating, and heartbreaking but it is also joyful, growing, and full of blessings. Firstly, I am truly enjoying whatever time I can spend with them. Secondly, I pray daily for the ability to walk through it. Thirdly, I praise Him for the challenge. Lastly, I surround myself with others who are experiencing the same difficulties. God uses it all for His glory and our growth. Count it all joy and praise Him for the blessings through the challenge! Most definitely, through a new beginning or chapter in life.
