The ultimate scavenger hunt is when you’re looking for a good book to read! Maybe you’re looking for a self help book to improve something about yourself. On the other hand, maybe you’re just wanting to sink your teeth into a good mystery. The hunt for the perfectly written book is a fun one. The best part is when you pick up a book and know it’s a keeper. Why? Because you just want to rush through it — yet at a snail’s pace so it never ends!
I tend to read more “self-help” and Christian living books. But every once in a while I like to soak into a book that has personality to it. Sometimes they are novels of Christian love stories or mysteries. But more recently they have been written by authors that have been willing to be transparent and share their journey. The book “Freefall to Fly” by Rebekah Lyons was one just like that.
Good Books says “ In this vulnerable memoir of transformation, Rebekah Lyons shares her journey from Atlanta, Georgia, to the heart of Manhattan, where she found herself blindsided by crippling depression and anxiety. Overwhelmed by the pressure to be domestically efficient, professionally astute, and physically attractive, Rebekah finally realized that freedom can come only by facing our greatest fears and fully surrendering to God’s call on our lives. This book is an invitation for all women to take that first step toward freedom. For it is only when we free-fall that we can truly fly.” To read more click Here.
For me, this book was life giving.
I felt like I had so much in common with Rebekah. Like her, I am in ministry, living in a new place, juggling a special needs child and being stalled by anxiety and fear. We shared commen threads like wishing so much to be a better version of who I am. . Her voice is genuine, transparent, and inviting. I wish I could sit across from her at a coffee shop. But I settled for the slow turning of pages as I felt myself getting to know her more. A good book to read out by the pool, “Freefall to Fly” will affirm the good work God has already started in you!
