Discipleship is God’s primary means to change the world.
Discipleship is when a follower of Jesus helps someone else do the same.
It’s time to live as if we believe that is true. We are not meant to keep Jesus all to ourselves. We were meant to share Him and His love with others. You were created for this. Created to be a living, walking example of God’s love and to show that love to others. I get to pass on the knowledge that I am gaining on this journey and make sure that the work that I am doing continues. God gives me opportunity to embrace the next generation. I get to make sure that I am doing what I can to help equip them to lead and follow their God given path. We all have roles that we fill in this life.
I feel unprepared, unequipped and unqualified
This is tough because most days I feel completely unqualified I don’t know enough. I don’t have the necessary tools and skills. I question everything about God’s Call on my life. Feelings are not facts! I may not have any of the things that the world calls qualifications but what I do have is Christ! He called me to the task and he will qualify me. He calls each of us to be disciples and to go and make disciples.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”” Matthew 28:19-20 NIV
Am I living a life that is worth imitating?
I have a responsibility to disciple those that are coming alongside and after me. Even though I want to be here forever I know it is not reality. I get to spend time pouring into others so that this work of the kingdom continues. This is about more than teaching. It is also about setting an example and leading with my life. Jesus led with his life. He set the example for others to follow. As I follow Him, I should be pointing others to Him. I lead with my whole life. I get to share God’s heart and live by His example, so that when I am gone the work will continue. It is not about replacement but replenishment. There always needs to be laborers in the kingdom. Who are you pouring into? Are you living your life as an example for others?
