Marta’s Legacy Series
Book 1: Her Mother’s Hope
Book 2: Her Daughter’s Dream
So, deep down, I am really a nerd. I have bookshelves with mostly unread books that I hope to get to someday. They span from a variety of genres, from self-help, inspirational, history, classics, to novels. So it was really hard to pick one suggestion. That being said, given that it’s summer, I decided to suggest something you could just lose yourself into.
Francine Rivers is one of my favorite authors. This particular series is a great read to carry you through lazy summer days hanging out on the back porch with a glass of iced tea. The series has a little bit of everything, which is why I think I picked it. The novel spans decades and includes elements of history and psycho-social dynamics.
Francine Rivers weaves faith throughout the storyline that inspires and reminds us of God’s sovereignty. She reminds us that most often we see only snippets of the big picture. This novel is also loosely based on real events in her own life. So the series carries a little bit of everything in it.
I’m one that likes to take the time to grow and learn from something I read. There are plenty of life reminders to walk away with. But sometimes, just losing yourself in someone else’s story is a great getaway.
Happy reading everyone!
PS: I also highly recommend these Francine Rivers novels, Redeeming Love: a different take on the story of Hosea and The Atonement Child: a great perspective on the abortion issue.
