Ministry Navigation On

As I write this, I feel I need to give full disclosure.  There are seasons of ministry when all is going well, and there are valleys, where God is teaching you patience and other lessons which are uncomfortable.  I am in the season of learning.  It’s March and my husband and I are in the last week of our basketball ministry.  God is certainly using his holy sandpaper to teach us grace in moments where it doesn’t feel natural to give grace.  All I can say is that this season has been challenging.  I’m thankful that in the midst of these learning seasons, God still shows up in big ways and offers encouragement.  It’s that child that comes to  Christ that really pulls you through.

I’m reminded of Moses and the Israelites.  God showed up big for them by providing food, parting waters, etc.  I’d say that prayer is huge in navigating through the seasons of ministry and recognizing the encouragements God sends you along the way, is huge!

I always say to my co-directors in our Women’s Ministry, “God must be working in a big way here, or Satan wouldn’t be so busy!”

I would say that navigating through ministry is a bit like navigating other parts of life.  Be open to the change God has for you, even if it is uncomfortable.  What you’ve always done, may not be the direction God has for you.  That’s ok!  God won’t bring us to it, without navigating us through it!

I love these verses in Jeremiah…

11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.
13 You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. – Jeremiah 29:11-13

I love how that reads!  He’s saying, “I have great plans for you, but I want you to keep close to me, so I can navigate you”.  More than anything else, our prayer and relationship with Jesus will be our best compass!  My prayer is that you recognize God’s encouragement along the way.  He is always faithful to send it!
