Q&A from the Star 93.3 Pastor’s Appreciation Breakfast

imagesThis last Thursday on October 30th, we attended the Star 93.3 Pastor’s Appreciation Breakfast at the Sharonville Convention Center, Sharonville Ohio.  It was a wonderful time to express our gratitude to over 200 area pastors for their faithful service to the body of Christ. It was also incredibly encouraging for us to hear from the many pastors who were just as excited to share with their wives about our vision and purpose.  If you have landed here as a result of someone attending the Star 93.3 breakfast, we are so glad you made it!!  We are excited to get to know you more as we grow together in the days ahead.

During our time speaking to so many, similar questions kept popping up.  I thought it would be helpful for me to share with you what some of them were.

Where are you located?  We are located in Middletown, Ohio.  About 45 minutes south of Dayton and 45 minutes north of Cincinnati, we are in a perfect spot if you want to fly in for a visit!  Something to consider for our mini conference “A Day to Breathe” Fall 2015.

Is there a cost?  There is no cost associated with becoming a member of the Breathe Ministry community.  In fact, we hope that encourages you to consider becoming one!

How many years have you been in ministry?  I, Dayna, have been in full time ministry as a pastor’s wife for 12+ years.  My husband served as a youth pastor right out of college for 2 years and an associate pastor of youth for 10 years.  Our bloggers have various years in full time ministry, but rest assured, we are coming at you with an experienced eye!  We won’t speak of what we do not know.

Who can write for the blog? Really, anyone who is a member, agrees with our doctrinal statement and is a pastor or missionary wife.  All blog posts will go through an approval process before being published.

I am a director/leader of a group of pastor’s wives…how can you help me?  Breathe provides most of it’s resources and services online.  If you have a specific need for a group of pastor/missionary wives and are interested in more support, please feel free to contact us so we can discuss the possibilities!

What about women pastors? We believe there are a lot of resources out there for pastors and so we really want to hone in on the supporting role of the wife. If you are a woman in any form of church ministry, you will find a place at Breathe, but we are intentional about building into the supportive role of pastor/missionary wife. Also, Breathe Ministry is evangelical in doctrine. Please take some time to read our doctrinal statement.   While we acknowledge that some denominations have women pastors and other positions that are in line with pastoral care, Breathe Ministry holds to the belief that the Biblical position of elder/pastor is specific to men. For this reason we desire to intentionally build into the heart of his wife.

Do you have counselors that can be called?  No. Breathe Ministry’s vision is to be a resource for you.  We will have recommendations for counselors and other services, but we will not act as if we are qualified in an area that we are not. We leave that to the professionals!

We hope this continues to paint a picture of who we are and where we are going!
