The Bondage I was living in Breathe Ministry

The Bondage I Was Living In.

When I ponder what it means to have freedom in Christ, the visual image I see is handcuffs that have been unlocked. Because prior to giving my life to Christ on November 16, 1998 I was handcuffed to sins that I had allowed myself to become in bondage to, some of those were:

  • Alcohol
  • Marijuana
  • Lying
  • Cheating
  • Self destruction
  • Mans approval

This was just a few, you see I didn’t know any other way to live. So I had chosen to live in bondage. No-one in their right mind wants to live in bondage. I didn’t know what it meant to live in the Freedom of Christ, until the evening of November 16, 1998. You see my husband & I moved 900 miles away from where we were living and having marital problems all the way to Jacksonville, Florida. During visiting Trinity Baptist Church I accepted Jesus as my savior. As a result, He released me from the bondage I was living in.

I’ll never forget that evening.  For 24 years I had lived a life in bondage, it was that evening that I realized that I didn’t have to live there anymore. Jesus had paid that sin debt that was holding me in bondage.

Because of what Christ did on the cross, those that accept him as savior are free.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.  Galatians 5:1

We must resolve that Christ has set us FREE, and we don’t live in bondage anymore. And we must not choose that yoke of slavery again. Why would we want to live shackled to the sins that had kept us from living free again? No matter what lies our mind is telling us, we know that NOTHING can take us away From the Love of God. In Him there is complete Freedom!

Romans 8:35-39

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written,“For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

No matter what comes up against you in this world, know that NOTHING can separate you from the FREEDOM you have in Christ!
